Whether it is Lennart Hyland or whether he has "borrowed" his name is difficult to know.
His name appears in the text of Kristoffersson's pictures that were published in the weekly magazine Året Runt no. 45 in 1951.
The Carousel was a radio program at the time that was immensely popular, and Hyland also seems to have received space in the weekly press, which attracted readers.
The report is titled Graduation at the Carousel School.
Actress Inga Brink, who played the role of Bianca in the musical Kiss me Kate in Malmö in 1951, gets a lesson in how to make the Scanian delicacy: the spette cake.
It takes place at the historic Jeppsson's spit cake bakery where spit cake baker Tage Jeppson teaches the difficult art.
At first, some people think that it actually seems quite easy to crush an awful lot of eggs. The more eggs, the better, says Jeppsson.
She manages to get a batter and then pours it over a highly heated, rotating skewer. Hence the name skewer cake. Here she swirls the batter which in the end "almost" looks like the cake should.
We are all children at first, of course, and she looks very pleased when she holds it up. Baker Jeppsson looks somewhat pleased, but he probably didn't dare to say anything other than: it turned out well...
A little about Inga Brink. She was born on February 4, 1913 in Gothenburg and did most of her work on stage: operetta, revue and musical. She also managed to appear in films.
Interestingly, at the time she was married to the talented cartoonist Eugen Semitjov. He was the father of the classic adventure series Allan Kämpe.
Inga Brink died in 2010, aged 97.
