Johannes fire station. Since 1878 Stockholm's main fire station. The architect for the building was Chief Superintendent Axel Nyström and it was inaugurated on October 9, 1878. Here is a picture from the annual meeting of the Swedish Fire Chiefs' Association held at the station in 1918. In connection with this, the fire department's newest piece of equipment is displayed, a lighting truck.
A novelty in 1918. In a contemporary newspaper it is written: Stockholm gets a lighting car. The other day a Scania-Vabis lighting car manufactured for the Stockholm fire department was tested, the first of its kind in Scandinavia. It is equipped with a powerful headlight, with which the fire stations can be illuminated, which is of great value, especially when extinguishing fires at night.
