På gång men under arbete

In progress but under construction

From the flow of images

The very idea of a photo archive is to save the photographs in a way that they can be found. In theory. But in practice, the "find" function is something that only works partially.

It turns out that photographers are just as careless and perhaps just as lazy as the rest of us, although I think that particular professional group should be the opposite.

The consequence of not writing down what the pictures depict, when and where they were taken creates problems. Many years after they were taken, modern people wonder about the motives that only partially provide clues.

I usually post the pictures that lack most of the information on my social media and this is where I usually get help moving forward. It could be a person who suddenly gets a name, a sculpture that someone knows where it is.

Here are the pictures from the feed that I need help with right now:

Bror Hjort in 1951 on the right in his studio at Norbyvägen 26 in Uppsala. He watches as a man works on the lower part of Hjort's statue Näckens polska.

Here I wonder who the man in white is and his role in it all. I have received a tip about the museum man Staffan Carlén who knows a lot about Bror Hjort but cannot find his contact details.

The year is 1956. The smiling police officer by the car is briefly introduced as the first female traffic police officer. Here I want to know more, least of all the name.

Doesn't the picture give the impression of depicting a textile designer or pattern maker? A picture from the 1950s that I would like to know the name of. A Swedish woman photographed in some kind of studio where the background consists of yarn and skeins. Perhaps someone who was known for working with patterns or similar in wall decorations or carpets.

Two radio legends in the same picture. Per-Martin Hamberg and Sven Jerring photographed in connection with the recording or broadcast of a radio program where a dashing woman in the middle may be part of the content. Maybe I have to make do with the information I have, but maybe someone will recognize her. The year is 1951

A 1970s picture of a man at his P1800.

A search has been done on the license plate number but it gives no clue as to who the man is. The classic Volvo car is still interesting even without the name but it would be fun to know who the man is.

The year is 1954 and a trio is photographed with their instruments and the notes of "Countess Mariza".

I think the pianist should be recognized. His appearance is somehow familiar, but so far I haven't been able to find out who he is.

Some of the pictures I would like help with, so comment if you know anything and I would be very happy.
