The film When the Syrens Bloom (1952) is a Swedish historical drama directed by Ivar Johansson, based on Harald Beijer's novel Johannes and Trubbnos . The film is set in the 1880s and follows the young Johannes Weijner, who grows up in Stockholm under difficult circumstances. The film premiered on 4 February 1952 at the Royal cinema in Stockholm.
The main roles are played by Kenne Fant as Johannes Weijner and Nine-Christine Jönsson as Charlotta, called Trubbnos. Other cast members include Gudrun Brost as Johannes' mother, Alexandra Weijner, Eva Stiberg as the actress Frida and Maj-Lis Lüning as Julia, Johannes' friend and the film's femme fatale.
