Posters with pictures of figureheads being painted .
This may seem strange, but it was done on Burgh Island on the south coast of Devon in England. The old wooden figureheads that used to sit on the bows of ships needed a makeover. The once beautifully painted and artistically carved wooden figures have taken a beating from the elements and the paint has peeled off.
The figureheads were the local attraction when visitors came to the island. Burgh Island is famous for its connection to the detective writer Agatha Christie who was inspired by the island for two of her novels.
The island and the Devon coast were known for smuggling and piracy.
There are two ways to get to the island: by boat at high tide and by special tractor transport at low tide.
Now the almost 100-year-old photograph is an interesting decoration that provokes thought and a guaranteed conversation starter!
