The Apollo moped in 1954. A young woman fills up her new Apollo Z moped at a BP petrol pump that supplies the oil-blended petrol used. The tank held two litres. Her moped is optionally equipped with a front fork with suspension, which cost an extra 25 kronor.

The Z-1 model was launched in 1954 by the Apollo brand and manufactured by M. Berlin & Co AB in Värnamo in Småland.

When it went on sale, it cost 710 SEK.

Mopeds have not always existed. On June 30, 1952, the Moped Act was introduced. The law included a vehicle with four new generous rules; no registration, no driver's license was required, no road tax was paid and, initially, no insurance was required. You had to be at least 15 years old and the moped was allowed to have a maximum speed of 30 km/h. Sweden became the fastest growing moped market in the world. In 1957, there were approximately 400,000 mopeds in Sweden.

The picture was originally published in the magazine Lektyr no. 16 in 1958.
