Swedish cavalry soldier on horseback during training. At the time the picture was taken, World War II was underway. Sweden mobilized soldiers and increased its readiness. On April 7, 1940, it was decided to begin mobilizing the cavalry brigade.
The cavalry's primary tasks are reconnaissance and rapid assaults. In 1970, new acquisitions of horses ceased.
