Svante Grundberg (1943–2019) was a Swedish actor, writer and presenter who left a big mark on Swedish television history.

Together with Björn Wallde, he hosted the legendary program Nattsudd (1985–1991), where they discussed popular music history in a way that no one else did. They smoked and drank alcohol on the show – albeit only pretending to – and the program became a talking point that attracted viewers of all ages.

Svante wasn't just in front of the camera. He edited and cut film sequences himself, such as when in 1989 he selected clips with the American orchestra leader Ina Ray Hutton, a favorite in the program.

With Nattsudd, Svante Grundberg made music history come alive and entertaining for an entire generation. He was a pioneer in Swedish TV entertainment – knowledgeable, charming and always engaged.
Svante Grundberg died on April 25, 2019, at the age of 75.

Åke Cyrus took the photos at Svante's home in December 1989.
