Poster with a picture from Gothenburg in 1931. A grand barge landing at Götaverken in Gothenburg. The proud ship slides into the water, not without drama. People have gathered all around the quays to watch the event.

It is the ship M/S Peiping which was launched on August 15, 1931. It was delivered to the shipping company AB Svenska Ostasiatiska Kompaniet in October 1931.

The ship sank after being torpedoed by the German submarine U 66 on a voyage between Buenos Aires and New York on September 9, 1942. Three crew members died.
