Ullacarin Rydén, born Ulla-Carin Larsson on March 28, 1926 in Oskarshamn.
Early life and private life
Ullacarin was born in Småland and grew up in Oskarshamn. She married twice during her life: first in 1945–1948 to Harald Rydén, an advertising executive and composer, and later in 1963 to Holger Juhlin (1926–2001), who was the first stage manager at the Royal Swedish Opera. After her second marriage, she sometimes used the name Ulla-Carin Juhlin.
Career
Ullacarin Rydén was active as an actress from the 1940s until her death, appearing in a number of Swedish films and theatre productions. Her career was characterised by a mix of supporting roles and more prominent characters, often in comedies and light-hearted productions that were popular in the post-war period.
Film
She made her film debut in the 1940s and became a familiar face in Swedish popular culture. Her best-known roles include appearances in films such as Spöke på semester (1951), where she played Karin, and Aldrig med min kofot eller... Drömtjuven (1954), where she played Maud Ramsten. She also had roles in several Åsa-Nisse films, such as Åsa-Nisse på Mallorca (1962) and Åsa-Nisse ordnar allt (1955), where she often contributed humor and charm in smaller but memorable roles. Other films include Fly mej en greve (1959), where she played the sculptor Ullacarin Knaake, and Calle P. (1965).
In addition to feature films, she lent her voice to the original Swedish dub of the Disney film Pongo and the 101 Dalmatians (1961), where she provided the voices for both Lucy the goose and Miss Birdwell.
Theater
Ullacarin was also involved in the theater and worked on various productions, including at the Dramaten, where her second husband was active. Her theater career is less documented than her film work, but she was part of the vibrant theater scene in Stockholm during her time.
Style and heritage
Ullacarin Rydén is often associated with the Swedish film culture of the 1950s, an era marked by folk comedies and an optimistic post-war mood. Her roles were often colorful and contributed to a sense of lightness, which made her popular with audiences. A picture from the 1950s shows her posing with a pilsner from Stockholm breweries, which captures the spirit of the time and her role as a representative of the popular culture of the time.
Although she did not achieve the same stardom as some of her contemporaries, Ullacarin left a lasting impression through her versatility and presence in both film and voice acting. Her untimely death at the age of 48 ended a career that had the potential to develop further.
In summary, Ullacarin Rydén was a committed and appreciated actress who contributed her talent to the Swedish entertainment world during a dynamic period, and her work lives on as part of Sweden's film and theater history.

She died on November 28, 1974 in Oscar's parish in Stockholm, only 48 years old, and is buried at the Norra cemetery outside Stockholm.
