At this time in the 1960s, it was common to wear so-called car shoes. Shoes that were marketed specifically to be comfortable and functional when driving. One can imagine that she had switched to just those. High-heeled shoes are not the best or most comfortable to drive in.
However, she has forgotten her regular shoes outside the car. Unfortunately, the picture does not tell what happened next, hopefully she saw the shoes and took them with her. You never know.
