Poster with a picture of a young woman trying out a vibration belt.

The image shows a fascinating glimpse into the health and fitness wave of the 1930s – a vibration belt in action!
This retro device, which looks like a cross between an industrial machine and a torture device, was a popular invention for "shaking up" well-being.
The idea was that the belt, often placed around the waist or hips, would vibrate away fat, improve circulation, and give the user a painless path to a more shapely figure – all without lifting a finger!
The salons that offered these machines were often glamorous, with promises of miracle results, and the vibration belt became a symbol of the era's fascination with technological shortcuts to health.
Funnily enough, it feels as if the vibration belt of the 1930s is a distant cousin to today's fitness gadgets - although with significantly less scientific basis.
The image captures not only a technical curiosity but also a time when optimism about the possibilities of machines was endless – and perhaps a little naive!

Our premium quality, heavier, white, matte paper has a natural, smooth, uncoated finish that feels luxurious to the touch.
